Distant Radiance

Distant Radiance,
In single light
A single moment in
Heaven's Delight!
The moment grew as did the sky!
What is it teaching us
Did she tell you something?
Did she tell you why?
I am wondering who else knew when it shone,
Knew what to do in it's awesome bright glow.
I stood their star struck;
But no, not the stars, just the one
That we live by did show us her radiant bright light
And that the time had begun!
The message was clear. Right in front of my face.
I thought of the others taking time in at this place.
This time, this moment to be in de-light,
And wonder beyond wonder of her special  bright sight!
The colors radiated and drew deeper still.
Knowing this isn't just for me, but why am I here,
At this moment, this very moment when the sun shone her sphere!?
Saying good night my little ones. Good night, I'll be back to show you my sights!
To show you the Light!
At live long and at last, that the Sun is,
And the sun is as good as it gets
The centre of our little wilderness!

We couldn't live without her.
Today I am blessed by the Sun's evening kiss.
Thank you!
Sun, sun, mister(misses) sun;
Won't you please shine down on me!
And we are truly star stuck!

Knowledge is power and empowered people make empowered choices. Nowhere can this be seen more clearly than in the choices that effect health and wellbeing. We have not really been taught how to take care of ourselves or what it means to have a longevity plan.

Our current system of health education, put in place by government and corporations, do not necessarily have our best interests at heart. Our current model of health care itself is steeped in the heroic and mechanistic model. Chinese Medicine, on the other hand, is an empirical system of knowledge that has been in place for thousands of years.

When we marry the best of our current models of medicine with the healing modalities of the ancients, a bigger picture emerges: one in which the whole person is seen in a new light of understanding. This course will explore a holistic approach to taking care of one of the most amazing organs in our body.

COURSE GOALS:
• Gain a basic understanding of the Liver, how it functions, increase awareness around this vital organ.

• Begin to look at Liver Imbalance from the perspective of Chinese Five Element Theory, specifically the Wood Element which governs the liver.

• Understand the relationships between physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual health.

• Gain a deeper understanding of the importance of aligning with the natural rhythms of the earth.

• Acquire tools for recognizing and diagnosing patterns of imbalance, specifically Liver Imbalance.

• Put the lessons learned in this class into practice through dietary and lifestyle recommendations, and herbs that specifically support the liver.

• Learn how to increase vitality and longevity for yourself, your family or your clients.

• Have fun learning using the methods in this class which include journaling, dancing and cooking.

• Take your practice to the next level by examining a cases study and presenting one of your own.

For the Love of Tea; What is your preference? Black, Green, White or Oolong?

I like White 1st, then green. I got burned out on black teas in my teens. I drank quite alot and haven't had much since. I do like it in combination with other teas and such.

Found the below info here; http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/i/b/Camellia-Sinesis-Tea-b.jpg
Evergreen shrub to tree whose leaves are used to make tea.

FEATURES: Small 2.5cm across white, occasionally pink, cupped flowers with a mass of yellow stamens. Leaves variable in size from around 1 Q-22cm long. The small growing tip leaves are used to make tea. ShruB to tall tree in sub/tropical climate but often grown as a low hedge of restricted in size by freqlient tip pruning.
FOR BEST RESULTS: Enrich soil with well rotted compost and retain moisture with a good thick mulch. When being harvested for tea the shoots and 2-3 top leaves are narvested every 8-1 Q days.

Meditation in Writing!

Listening to the wind, the trees rustling, the sounds of birds and other life; I listen with intent.
I listen for those things I do not have words for all of the time. Not that the above words won't suffice,
Just that those words describe things with words I have used my whole life.
I wonder about others. Both here and afar.
Then I focus on the things at hand.

I look to the north. Those trees are my friends. They speak to me everyday. Saying lately things like; it's winter, the atmosphere is blowing, it is very still. It is very cold, it is warming up.
The ground tells me that life is starting to wake up from it's slumber. Earlier and might take some naps before spring, but the little shoots are showing their little green beautiful heads, saying hello, kiss your babies and your other ones too, we just wanted to see what was going on outside!. I say, Me too!
The sky is infinite! Sky tells me that the sun is too far away for me to really want to play, although my bones love the cold and rain, I don't go out too long today! I, in my mind, walk the river, the glen, the beaches and mountains anytime, but my world, our earth and all of her elements tells me who I am. I will go out soon. Just to take the garbage out, I guess, will have to do.
And I get to go out too, as I work in new horizons. As the days are getting longer and tell me of their story, and I will tell them of mine. So then, we converge together sharing our lives in love and what ever the measure....I treasure....In LOVE<3
The sky is my friend! I have always been in love with the sky! The earth, as well, with all of her elements,
the sky's wind, and weather, the earth's waters, shores, hill, dales, mountains and inhabitants. How they, and we all connect and converge together, that is my key to know who I am too and it lifts me to the mountains and moves me to the oceans and uplifts me to the sky. I meditate here and here I am. In this season, I am. And so are you! God Bless you, one and all! Tiny Tim was on to something, yes?
I am magnificently grateful to be one.
I am magnificently grateful for my family!
And for you all. I am in love!
1000Thanks to God for my blessings and my trials and my tribulations!

Blessings to you and yours'

Anniversary of a slide; Sadly, it sits unrepaired. How to repair a slide? IDK, but 100 years ago they used rip rock to dike huge bodies of water.

Still needs quite a lot of revision, but what's new? I am publishing it anyway for the date. 1.11.11

My whole geo world changed here, too, but I only live just less than a football field away from this natural wonder.
You'll get what I mean by only in a minute:
The city had redirected water with a catch basin system 4 months before the photoed slide(1.08.090). Directing the ground waters away from my street end slide(95) which is much closer to my house where a slide has been since 1995. That slide still moves to this day. The 1995 slide is only one car length away from my driveway. The catch basin system 'Well 1' is sinking just a tidbit too(08 to present). Water puddles around it a little more and more. The city came by to look, but it wasn't raining. They tend to function so.

 City cones from '95 are still there; but 4 months after the redirected line(late in '08) was put in we gained a cliff. I have photos throughout my life with my children and our three cones. Not only are my children getting older, you should see them cones...:D

Here were(are) another couple of issues from before the slide incident 1/08/09;
                               1. the water pipe descending the hill right next to the stairs was broken half way down the hill, so water ran freely for years. There is a whole erosion, that you can crawl into, underneath the stair's landing at mid-point from the break in the pipe's runoff, (the pipe was fixed last spring, a little too late, if you ask me), Additionally, this is where the catch basin water was being directed to.
                              2. the owners of the land between the top house and the bottom of the hill (who knew that there was room for ownership there? it was a very steep hill, as you can see; and it is now a CLIFF! With Blackberries for disguise!), anyway, the owner had clear cut the bottom 2/3 of the hill 2 year before, then
3.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~HUGE snowstorm and flood! ~~~~~~~
~~~And PRESTO~~~
BUT the lack of action is what gets me....Litigation is a NASTY word when used like this! This pile still sits here as well. This area is very near a 'Welcome' to our Town sign. Rather near Our Northern entrance/exit from the corridor to our beautiful town. What a joke... We show 'ALL' what we CAN'T do..Pity..dark age,, and we don't even care. All of the automation in the world and we can't/won't fix this little issue....Onion's please!!!!
Oh, I should say that they took away the part of the pile of slid hillside that was on the road away. Can't fix private property and won't make the property owners(not the houses property, but the 'SLID LAND' where nobody lives OWNER) stabilize a hill where people reside. We may not pay as many taxes than the hills that get fixed, but we still pay them. I can't say too much more for lack of knowledge, but it doesn't take much to say, "Some knowledge is too much knowledge." I am also saying I know that there are issues I ignore because they aren't just right down the street from me and I haven't lost anything personally from it. I do apologize for that too.
Thanks for the vent, and I AM venting, aren't I?
Love, hugs, and my complete adoration,
Alli McD,.
P.S. I here it is really a pain to post comments. If this is the case for you will you do me a favor and email me at;
allisonians@gmail.com
If you want a reply please state so on the subject line.
Thank you for the listen and the visit.
:D
My photos are mine, and copyrighted. Please ask for my permission, or at least let me know if you use them to help my neighbors. :D
I will look for photos of the cones, they are SOOO cute! Pun intended! AND I will take current photos of the cliff, aka the slide. These are from 1/11/2009. :D
And with that;
I, Alli D., do declare this a published and legal document stating that I live, Not only do I live at this moment, but I live on an unstable hill with two live unfortified slides. One, on my north has cones only, the other has nothing to distinguish it's danger from any other, I know; but I live on a hillside on the lower crest on the west end where the sun doesn't crest until noon. This slide area doesn't get sun until a little bit later than that, save the lane. No trees on the road so sun, if it is sunny, gets there a bit sooner.
I solemnly swear this my oath. I live. I also live with neighbors who live on an unstable hill with two live slides. I'll keep you posted....or maybe someone will come help us shore it up.
I'll be writing and putting out more photos. I don't get down the hill/cliff as easily anymore. I need cliff hiking gear. Just kidding. I can walk or drive around. At least I can for now....
Here's looking at 'cha!
Is it under your nose, or under the sun? by Alli McD
Hello Out there in Cyberland! Happy New Year!
Growing up and out
Is really round about!
We learn then grow
Then out the window,
We climb then descend
It happens again!
We know what will happen
In most situations,
Say drinking gets us drunkin,
Say sunnin' gets us sunny
Or Burnt!
But the sun is essential
It is a part of our lives
Can't deny that no matter how
Much you try!
So then rain is an essence, so is air,
And the earth!
And there is buyer beware!
Which isn't just dearth.
Skip the junk isle and
Walk out the door!
Hit the road up to the closest out-of-door
Retreat to the forest, a stream, or a glen!
The ocean is finest if that's where you bend!
Drink it in,
Smell the sea!
Drink the water
Maybe tea?
I love kelp, do tell
All my mermaid friends as well!
Be fruitful, eat fruit;
Don't forget the wheat bran!
Be clarvoiant, be aware why you know who is looking
At you before you see them, oh what do you do?
You know by the senses of something too tacit
For most to comprend.
Is it instinct?
I think you know.
Why are we so curious, and so furious,
By the mention of it though?
So this is a new year for you to decide.
What will you make of the year to abide,
Life brings us measures, this is only one.
I hope your days are filled with everything under
The Sun!
(that you want)
Chose life, it's worth living!
Peace, love and adoration,
©Allisonians
Home Made lotions for Proriasis; referencing
Well here's some interesting stuff.
Just had to document this for future reference.
Quotation;
Home remedies for Psoriasis #4: Banana peel is a key ingredient in Exorex. This is a lotion concocted from coal tar and a specific essential fatty acid from banana peel that is associated with the immune system. Reportedly, the idea was derived from Zulu folklore, in which banana peels have been used for a variety of skin ailments for years.
(I'd disclude the coal tar....duh)
Home remedies for Psoriasis #5: Burdock root can help improve flare-ups of psoriasis. Take 20 to 40 drops of tincture three times a day.
Home remedies for Psoriasis #6: Chamomile is widely used in Europe for treating psoriasis. It contains anti-inflammatory flavonoid compounds. If you have ragweed allergies, however, do not use chamomile, as it is a member of the ragweed family.
Home remedies for Psoriasis #7: Castor oil is particularly helpful when left overnight on thick, small, well-circumscribed lesions. If cold-pressed castor oil is mixed with baking soda, it has been found to greatly improve thick, scaly heel skin, as long as the skin isn't cracked.
Home remedies for Psoriasis #8: Cayenne pepper has anti-inflammatory properties and helps with healing. Two clinical trials reviewed in the November 1998 issue of Archives of Dermatology reported that 0.025 percent capsaicin cream, made from hot peppers, works to reduce the redness and scaling in psoriasis. Capsaicin cream is available over the counter as Capzasin-P or Zostrix. It should be used over a six-week period. Care should be taken not to apply it to broken skin.
Home remedies for Psoriasis #9: Common figwort helps to clear psoriatic plaques. The recommended dose is 2 milliliters of tincture, taken twice a day.
Home remedies for Psoriasis #10: Dandelion tincture is useful for stimulating bile flow and clearing toxins out of the system. It is frequently combined with yellow dock (see below) for this purpose. The recommended dose is 30 to 60 drops twice a day.
Home remedies for Psoriasis #11: Echinacea tincture is occasionally used for psoriasis. It boosts the immune system, and so may decrease the incidence of colds, which can lead to flare-ups in some individuals. The recommended dose is 20 to 30 drops three times a day for up to ten days. Stop for two weeks, then repeat.
Home remedies for Psoriasis #12: Emu oil contains essential fatty acids and may be helpful for psoriasis. Apply it to the lesions as directed by the manufacturer.
Home remedies for Psoriasis #13: Flaxseed oil is chemically similar to fish oil and helps treat psoriasis. Adding flaxseed oil to salad dressing is a good way to get this helpful supplement into your diet. Take 1%2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil daily.
Veganic Farming by Angela Flinn at www.Care2.com
To quote a wonderful interest and a wonderful movement;
1000 Thank Yous Care2!
Quotation;
"...
This means we don’t use any animal manures, blood and bone, fish emulsion, or slaughterhouse sludge; all of which are considered acceptable by organic growing standards.
Although many organic growers tend to be skeptical about the feasibility of growing food on a large-scale without the use of any animal products, there are many sites around the world (especially in the UK), where veganic farming is occurring on a commercial basis. These success stories provide evidence that veganic growing is indeed the way of the future...."
Banana This; Recycle Old Peels~ fertilizer or silver polish
There are things you can do with that old peel.
1. Do you have a green thumb? House hold plants and outside gardens require fertilization. A great way to give your plants nutrients is with a banana peel. The banana peel is very rich in potassium and phosphorus, which give that added boost to your plants soil, especially so with roses. Here is how to use a banana peel to fertilizer your soil for your plants. Remove the peel from the banana. Place the banana peel on a cookie sheet to let it air dry. Grab a paper bag or envelope. Crumble the dried banana peel and place it in the bag. Let the banana sit at room temperature for about two days. When your caring for your plant, give it a potassium treat of crumbled banana peel. Mix well in the soil to ensure the roots are fed evenly.
2. Have you been thinking about pulling out that old silver? Well there is no time like the present. Bananas peel can also be used to polish silver. Yes, polish silver. Take the old peels and place them in a blender. You want the peels to become smooth and creamy. Once they have, grab a cloth and small amounts of the creamed banana peel and begin polishing your silver. The shine will be breath taking.
SOURDOUGH STARTER with WILD YEAST
SOURDOUGH STARTER with WILD YEAST
Wild yeasts exist in the air around you and to some extent on the wheat berries. There are wild yeasts on grapes (unsulphured) and apples and other fruits. It is those wild yeasts which are 'captured' to make a sourdough starter. The process takes from 3 to 5 days. I wish I had specific amounts for you, but you could start with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of flour and mix in enough warm (not hot) water to make a thin paste. DO NOT make it too soupy. That, in fact, is the trick to a good starter, according to the French bread makers, and I think they should know. And after you've fooled around with the flour and water thing, you might wish to branch out into adding those unsulphured grapes, apples, sour milk, etc as a catalyst in order to capture other strains of yeast. Each of these strains has a slightly different taste. In fact if you move to another area, you might end up with a starter that produces an entirely different flavor. For instance, San Francisco sourdough bread is well known and has a distinct taste due to the wild strains in the air there. On day one you mix the flour and water (and add any catalysts to encourage fermentation) and place in a warm spot. After 3 days, the dough should be moist, inflated, and slightly sour. More flour and water is added (mixed in) and left to sit in a warm spot. After 2 days the process is repeated. Then the next day it is done again. Note the order: 3 days, 2 days, 1 day. At this point you should be able to make a loaf of bread using part of the starter and adding back what you took out in the form of more flour and water. Rule of thumb: Use about 10% starter to size of loaf. In the case of a 2 lb loaf this is a bit over 3 oz of starter (3.2 to be exact). For a 1 lb loaf 1.5 oz would be used. A book that describes this process in great detail is The Village Baker by Joe Ortiz, copyright 1993, published by Ten Speed Press, Berkley CA. If it's not still in print, try the used books stores, that's where I got mine. Or try your local library. If they don't have it, they might be able to get it for you. ©2008 by Ernestina Parziale
